AMI and C-DAC Expand Partnership in India
In a significant development for the tech landscape in India, AMI® (American Megatrends Inc.) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). This collaboration aims to create next-generation Intel-based servers specifically designed for the Indian government sector, enhancing the nation's computing capabilities. This announcement comes on the heels of their previous success with the RUDRA server project, which saw over 6,000 units deployed across various esteemed institutions in India.
C-DAC, an esteemed organization operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, is renowned for its advanced computing solutions. Through a rigorous competitive bidding process, C-DAC chose AMI’s India subsidiary to develop the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and BIOS firmware for this innovative server setup. This choice underscores AMI’s well-established reputation in firmware development.
The partnership not only aims to bolster the technological framework for the Indian government but also resonate with the 'Make in India' initiative, promoting local manufacturing and self-reliance in technology. Both organizations share a vision of propelling India's technological landscape and enhancing the digital transformation agenda.
E. Magesh, the Director General of C-DAC, highlighted, "C-DAC has always been at the forefront of supercomputing initiatives in India. Collaborating with AMI, a recognized leader in the BIOS firmware space, ensures that we create a robust server infrastructure that aligns with our indigenization efforts. This endeavor is crucial for achieving autonomy in critical technologies."
On the other hand, Sanjay Wandhekar, the Centre Head at C-DAC in Pune, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "We look forward to this next phase of our collaboration with AMI. Together, we aim to develop Intel-based server designs that are not just state-of-the-art but also at the nexus of local needs and global technology trends."
In alignment with this vision, Arvind Jayabal, General Manager of AMI India, remarked, "C-DAC's recognition of AMI’s leadership in dynamic firmware has solidified our collaborative efforts, especially following our successful joint project on RUDRA. We believe that this partnership will lay a strong foundation for future indigenous innovations in server technology, ensuring a secure and scalable infrastructure for the Indian digital ecosystem."
This partnership illustrates a transformative step toward enhancing India's digital capabilities. C-DAC is committed to leading research and development in IT, electronics, and cutting-edge technologies such as High-Performance Computing and Cyber Security. Meanwhile, AMI continues to redefine firmware solutions for modern computing needs, from on-premises systems to cloud solutions.
The collaboration signifies a pivotal moment for both organizations as they embark on a journey to create solutions that meet the unique demands of the Indian market. By focusing on innovation and sustainability, AMI and C-DAC are poised to set new benchmarks in the realm of server technology in India. For more details, one can visit the official websites of
