AI Film Festival Japan 2026: An Exciting Expansion of Creativity
The AI Film Festival Japan (AIFJ), organized by AI Film Japan, will be hosting its second edition from October 31 to November 2, 2026, primarily at Tokyo Innovation Base (TiB). This year's festival marks a significant expansion in scope and ambition, featuring partnerships with industry leaders such as Alibaba Cloud, CapCut, and ElevenLabs, who will each sponsor special awards within the festival.
In its second iteration, AIFJ aims to maintain its core focus on film screenings and awards while also branching out into workshops, practical productions, and dialogues across sectors like enterprise, intellectual property (IP), and technology. The festival seeks to establish connections that enable these creative works to be recognized and utilized in broader markets.
Uniting Film and AI for New Business Opportunities
The rise of generative AI has revolutionized the landscape of video production, expanding possibilities for filmmakers and artists. However, the existence of outstanding work and talent does not automatically lead to opportunities for recognition and collaboration with enterprises or the market. AIFJ strives to transcend the typical film festival model, focusing instead on discovering and evaluating AI-driven creative works, thus fostering an ecosystem for their societal acknowledgment. While rooted in cinema, the festival expands its reach to other creative areas like animation, music, games, advertising, and IP development.
In the inaugural festival held in 2025, over 800 attendees participated, with 563 films submitted from more than 45 countries. The event attracted over 1,500 participants when including related programs. As a stepping stone for even greater achievements, AIFJ has been chosen as an official partner of
