Bayer Foundation Launches 2025 Women Entrepreneurs Award to Support Innovators in Health and Food Security
The Bayer Foundation, in collaboration with Impact Hub Network, has initiated the application process for the much-anticipated 2025 Women Entrepreneurs Award. This prestigious award aims to nurture innovative women entrepreneurs who are addressing critical challenges in health and food security. Designed to empower women-led initiatives, the program will provide 15 recipients with a financial grant of €25,000 each along with growth support designed to help overcome barriers to scaling their innovative solutions.
The impact of women entrepreneurs in driving transformative change cannot be overstated. They leverage their unique perspectives, creativity, and societal impact focus to develop sustainable, scalable models that tackle pressing global issues. This award is not just financial support; it catalyzes their work, aids in the establishment of scalable social enterprises, and connects them with networks committed to facilitating transformative change.
Highlighting past successes, the award celebrates the remarkable contributions of previous winners like Joan Nalubega from Uganda, Valentina Rios from Colombia, and Athalia Mutiara Laksmi from Indonesia. Nalubega has created innovative mosquito repellents that have seamlessly integrated into everyday products like soap and lotion, significantly reducing malaria cases by an impressive 88% in user households. On the other hand, Rios has transformed pediatric care with a groundbreaking WhatsApp-based service operational 24/7, addressing over 9 million inquiries across 28 countries, while also reducing emergency room visits by 92% and improving healthcare access for underserved families. Laksmi’s work bridges communication gaps between hearing and deaf communities through a 3D animation translator, benefitting over 160,000 people by fostering learning and connection. These examples underline how innovative approaches can yield substantial social benefits.
Aspiring applicants can submit their applications until February 18, 2025. The Bayer Foundation emphasizes that this partnership offers critical support tailored specifically to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs and their businesses, while also promoting collaboration to expedite advancements in health and food security sectors.
