Enhancing English Proficiency: TAC's New TOEIC® L&R IP Tests
TAC Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has partnered with the International Business Communication Institute (IIBC) to provide students and professionals with three new TOEIC® L&R IP tests. This collaboration aims to enhance access to the TOEIC® Program and streamline the testing process for students enrolled in TAC's TOEIC® L&R Test preparation courses.
Overview of the New TOEIC® Tests
Three formats of the TOEIC® Tests are now available for application through TAC:
1.
TOEIC® L&R IP Test (Paper-based)
This test involves answering 200 multiple-choice questions within approximately two hours, mirroring the public test format. It is conducted at TAC's Yaesu Campus in Tokyo and Umeda Campus in Osaka, with six sessions scheduled annually until 2026. The score reports, issued by IIBC, will be mailed to candidates approximately ten business days after the test.
Advantages of Taking the Paper-based Test:
- Familiar environment: Candidates can take the test at their usual TAC campus.
- Practice opportunity: It serves as a useful rehearsal before the official public test, with a similar format and controlled testing environment.
- Recognized scoring: Although the IP test results in a score report rather than an official certification like the public test, scores are generally regarded as equivalent.
2.
TOEIC® L&R IP Test (Online)
This online test allows candidates to complete 90 questions within about one hour from the comfort of their home. TAC will host this test format six times per year until 2026. Results are available immediately after finishing the test, with a downloadable score report provided by IIBC by the next business day.
Advantages of the Online Test:
- High-quality content: Candidates can access questions of similar caliber to those in public tests.
- Shorter duration: Completing the test in approximately half the time makes it easier to maintain focus and concentration.
3.
TOEIC® S&W IP Test (Online)
This online test evaluates speaking and writing skills in English. It consists of 19 questions to be completed in approximately one hour and 20 minutes. TAC recommends this test for students who have achieved a score of 700 or above in the TOEIC® L&R Test. Results are available 11 business days after the final testing day, allowing candidates to download their score reports in PDF format.
Advantages of the S&W Test:
- Convenient home testing: Similar to the public test in format, candidates can complete the test online from home.
Understanding the TOEIC® L&R IP Test
Many students wonder how IP tests differ from public tests and whether their scores are interchangeable. TAC regularly addresses these inquiries, providing detailed responses on their TOEIC® L&R Test preparation website. Candidates can find clarity on various aspects, such as scoring, validity, and more.
