Kazakhstan has recently surged into the ranks of elite tennis nations, thanks to a significant decision by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The ITF has raised Kazakhstan's voting power at its annual general meeting from seven to nine votes. This change reflects the country’s growth and accomplishments in the sport, placing it alongside respected tennis powerhouses such as Italy, Spain, Canada, Switzerland, China, and Japan.

Bulat Utemuratov, President of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation (KTF), emphasized that this increase in voting stakes stems from a thorough evaluation of Kazakhstan's tennis development. Factors influencing this decision included the success of junior teams, senior national team performances, and the level of participation as well as infrastructure investment. Utemuratov expressed pride in Kazakhstan's recognition as one of the strongest tennis nations, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sports history.

This decision, which received overwhelming support from 91% of the delegates representing 200 national associations, not only enhances Kazakhstan’s influence within the ITF but also highlights the country’s commitment to advancing tennis at all levels. Currently, over 17,500 children participate in tennis programs throughout Kazakhstan, suggesting a growing grassroots interest and talent pool in the sport. Annually, more than 250 tournaments are held across the nation, featuring over 40 international events, while inclusive sports like wheelchair tennis continue to receive investment, enhancing recreational opportunities for all.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan regularly participates in prominent international competitions such as the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup. The country has built world-class facilities that cater to both elite athlete training and community sports engagement, thereby fostering the sport's popularity and outreach.

Now that Kazakhstan's voting power has increased to nine votes, it joins an exclusive club of approximately 15 countries that hold significant influence in the ITF.
