Food Safety Tech Unveils FSTR for Enhanced Benchmarking in the Food Sector

Food Safety Tech Introduces FSTR

In a groundbreaking move, Food Safety Tech has announced the launch of Food Safety Tech Research (FSTR), a dedicated research and advisory organization solely focused on food safety, technology, and data-driven operational performance. This joint venture with David Hatch, a veteran in tech research within the industry, represents a significant step forward in providing the food sector with independent benchmarking intelligence.

The initiative debuted its flagship study, the Food Safety Digital Maturity Benchmark, during the 15th Anniversary Food Safety Consortium held in Washington, D.C. from October 21 to 23. This comprehensive study aims to evaluate how food and beverage manufacturers are integrating digital technologies and to identify both the successes and challenges they encounter in the process.

For years, food companies have invested extensively in technology solutions, including software for automation, analytics, traceability, and the latest in artificial intelligence. Despite these investments, there has been a notable absence of an impartial measure to gauge their progress. Vendors have provided various case studies, and industry analysts have shared their opinions, but companies have lacked a standard for self-assessment. FSTR intends to fill this void by offering primary research and longitudinal benchmarks that deliver actionable insights, thereby equipping manufacturers with the critical intelligence needed for their investment decisions.

David Hatch, Co-Founder and Chief Research Officer of FSTR, emphasized the necessity of such evaluations, stating, "Digital transformation is no longer optional, but organizations still lack independent evidence to separate technology promises from measurable business outcomes. Our goal is to provide trusted, research-driven insight that helps organizations understand where they stand today, where they can improve tomorrow, and how the industry is evolving."

In agreement, Rick Biros, Founder and President of Innovative Publishing, underlined the evolution of this initiative. He noted that for over fifteen years, Food Safety Tech has been pivotal in helping the industry grasp emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and best practices. The launch of FSTR represents a natural evolution of their mission, focusing on creating original research that will enable smarter decision-making within the industry.

Manufacturers in the food and beverage sectors are encouraged to participate in the benchmarking survey confidentially and anonymously. In return, participants will receive a detailed report containing comprehensive findings, alongside a personalized maturity scorecard to gauge their progress relative to industry standards.
