Tachikawa City Half Marathon 2026

Tachikawa City is thrilled to announce the upcoming Tachikawa City Half Marathon 2026, building on the success of the previous year’s event. Participants can look forward to a range of races, including a half marathon, a 10km race, and a fun run. For those with intellectual disabilities, a special division will be introduced to promote inclusivity in this vibrant event.

In addition to the half marathon, runners can also engage in the official 10km race, a 1-mile race, a 3km fun run, and family pair races. This upcoming marathon will be noteworthy as it includes a newly established category specifically for participants with intellectual disabilities. This category aims to provide everyone the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of racing, regardless of their circumstances.

Another exciting aspect of the Tachikawa City Half Marathon is that it will be part of the World Ranking Competition (WRk). This means that rankings and times will contribute points, influencing the world marathon rankings and qualifications for major international competitions. Participants can be extra motivated, knowing they are competing on a global scale!

To enhance the experience, the event will feature a variety of activities for participants. Ken Taro Uno, a popular figure from Yoshimoto Kogyo, will serve as the event’s MC, adding a fun atmosphere to the occasion. There will be participant-only events, including a lively rock-paper-scissors contest with fantastic prizes waiting for winners.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with professional sports teams based in Tachikawa through various interactive booths. These booths will be open to everyone, however, non-runners will be required to pay an entrance fee. It’s a perfect chance for all community members to join in the festive spirit of the marathon!

The top finishers in the Tachikawa City Half Marathon will have the exciting opportunity to represent the city at the Omachi Alps Marathon in our sister city, Omachi City. Winners in categories such as the overall half marathon and the general male and female champions from Tachikawa will be selected. Furthermore, top young runners from the 1-mile event will also qualify for this prestigious competition.
