Collaboration for a Greener Tomorrow
In an exciting development, Fukko Co., Ltd. and Lopia Co., Ltd. have announced an enhanced partnership aimed at promoting the use of eco-friendly products across their stores in the Kanto region. Effective as of May 13, 2026, this initiative will target 143 locations nationwide, focusing on the collection and recycling of used food trays.
The ‘Store to Store’ Approach
Under the banner of 'Store to Store,' Fukko and Lopia are gearing up to collect used food trays from customers through specially placed collection boxes at their stores. This innovative approach is designed to transform these trays into new food trays, establishing a 'Tray to Tray' recycling system. The goal is to actively encourage the use of eco-friendly products and promote a cycle of sustainable resources within the community.
The collaboration seeks to establish the stores as eco-leaders in their regions, inviting local residents to bring in their used food trays for recycling. All collected trays will be repurposed as resources by Fukko, upgrading them into eco-friendly products that Lopia will then utilize in its sales areas, thus creating a closed-loop of sustainable resource management.
Positive Impact on CO2 Emissions
Through this partnership, Lopia has already made significant strides in reducing carbon emissions. In the fiscal year ending February 2026, the supermarket chain successfully contributed to a reduction of 3,279 tons of CO2 emissions by utilizing recycled eco-products sourced from the trays they collected. As part of their expansion plan, they have set an ambitious target of reducing approximately 4,000 tons of CO2 emissions by the fiscal year ending February 2027.
Community Engagement
The implementation plan also includes awareness campaigns through posters in the stores, encouraging customers to engage in recycling activities actively. By raising awareness and incentivizing participation, Fukko and Lopia hope to see an increase in the volume of collected used food trays, further amplifying the impact of their ongoing projects.
