Discover the Wonders of Tokyo's Ocean and Tideland
In the heart of Tokyo, the luxurious hotel,
Mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection, is set to host an exciting summer workshop on August 2, 2026, titled “
Experience Tokyo's Ocean and Tideland: Learning about Food and Blue Seafood.” This event aims to engage families in an interactive discovery of the rich marine environment surrounding Tokyo Bay. By partnering with the international NGO
Sailors for the Sea, Japan, and local town management organization
Takeshiba Town Design, Mesm Tokyo is committed to raising awareness about ocean conservation while providing a creative and enjoyable experience for participants of all ages.
The workshop promises a holistic approach comprising three main segments: awareness, culinary experience, and nature exploration. In this unique program, parents and children alike will not only learn about the ocean but will also engage in hands-on activities that stimulate the senses.
A Glimpse into the Program
- - Part 1: Understanding Tokyo Bay’s Marine Environment
The event kicks off with an engaging environmental lecture led by Sailors for the Sea, Japan. This segment provides insights into the pressing challenges facing our oceans, particularly focusing on the current state of Tokyo Bay. Participants will explore the concept of
Blue Seafood, sustainable seafood options, and discuss actionable steps they can take to help protect marine life.
- - Part 2: Tasting to Learn: The Blue Seafood Experience
Following the discussion, attendees will enjoy a special culinary experience crafted by Mesm Tokyo's culinary master, Kokimoto Kumamoto. The menu incorporates
Blue Seafood, which consists of sustainably harvested seafood that's good for the environment. Through this tasting, participants will learn how food choices affect marine conservation, making this not just a meal but a valuable lesson in sustainability.
- - Part 3: Nature Observation at Takeshiba Tideland
The final segment brings families to the nearby Takeshiba Tideland. During the evening's cool hours, participants will have the chance to observe diverse marine life including fish and crabs in their natural habitat. This immersive experience aims to reestablish a connection between Tokyo residents and the city’s unique aquatic ecosystem.
A Commitment to Sustainable Learning
Since its opening in 2020, Mesm Tokyo has been dedicated to its brand concept,
“Tokyo Waves”, which emphasizes meaningful experiences that resonate with the urban environment. This workshop illustrates their ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement through educational programs and experiential learning opportunities.
