In response to this issue, MNTSQ designed the seminar as an interactive discussion platform where participants could share their experiences. The guiding concept of the event was "eating from the same pot". By adopting a breakfast format where light refreshments like rice balls and miso soup were served, attendees engaged in candid conversations about their concerns, fostering ties with fellow legal experts across various companies.

Event Overview

The event was held at TOKYO TORCH's MY Shokudo Hall & Kitchen in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and lasted from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. Titled “What Type is Your Legal Department? Exploring Your Optimal Solutions through Contract Review Patterns,” the seminar featured MNTSQ's domain expert, Kazuki Okada, a lawyer and former corporate legal officer.

During the seminar, Okada focused on the balance between the scope of legal responsibilities and those assigned to business divisions during contract reviews. He categorized common contract review patterns into five types:
1. Full review
2. Full review except for company templates
3. Partial review based on contract types
4. Partial review following established criteria
5. Consultations on all cases

Rather than advocating for a superior reviewing system, the seminar emphasized the importance of consciously choosing one’s operational model, encouraging attendees to dialogue about their current practices and issues.

Reflections After the Event

A post-event survey indicated that a significant 66.7% of participants identified resource scarcity as a pressing challenge in their contract operations. This insight reflects that many companies face similar obstacles, highlighting the value of creating connections and live interactions among legal professionals. There's a recognized need for environments where attendees can meet face-to-face to exchange ideas and collaborate on solutions.

Feedback indicated a strong desire for future events format, with 66.7% of respondents wanting more case studies and user roundtables. Attendees expressed appreciation for having the chance to reassess their own operational structures and to forge direct links with other corporate legal officers facing similar challenges. Information exchanges at the venue were lively and emphasized the demand for dynamic spaces that facilitate learning and shared problem-solving.
