Xiaomi and Gran Turismo Announce Groundbreaking Partnership Featuring SU7 Ultra

Xiaomi and Gran Turismo: A New Era of Electric Vehicles

On June 7, 2025, in London, Xiaomi announced its partnership with Polyphony Digital at the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 inaugural event. This collaboration brings the much-anticipated Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the flagship model of Xiaomi’s electric vehicle (EV) lineup, to Gran Turismo 7, a highly praised racing simulator for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5. Notably, this marks the first appearance of a Xiaomi model in the renowned Gran Turismo series.

Gran Turismo is recognized as one of the most authentic driving simulators, known for its realistic engineering parameters that replicate real-world performance. Its influence extends beyond gaming, fostering innovation in vehicle driveability and safety, while uniting automotive enthusiasts worldwide. The introduction of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra reflects the rapid advancements in smart and high-performance EVs within the automotive industry.

In May 2025, Kazunori Yamauchi, the founder of Gran Turismo, met with Lei Jun, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group, in Beijing. During this visit, Yamauchi had the opportunity to test drive the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and tour Xiaomi’s EV factory in Yizhuang.

Yamauchi shared his excitement about initiating this partnership: "I am thrilled to start our collaboration with Xiaomi. The Chinese automotive industry is rapidly evolving, and Xiaomi has emerged as a key player in this field, developing exceptional vehicles like the Xiaomi SU7 series, which sits at the core of its comprehensive smart ecosystem, including smartphones, wearables, and home appliances."

He further emphasized the impressive performance of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype, which has surpassed traditional performance benchmarks at the Nürburgring. "Witnessing these achievements has deeply impressed me with Xiaomi's courage, curiosity, passion, and relentless efforts to reach these milestones, values that resonate with the ethos of Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital."

In response, Lei Jun shared his alignment with Yamauchi’s vision of building a better society through technology. He stated, "This vision coincides perfectly with Xiaomi’s mission to ensure that everyone around the world can live better lives through accessible and innovative technology. Our shared values paved the way for this collaboration. Gran Turismo is widely acclaimed for its uncompromising quality and experience, and we are honored to have the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra featured in the game. We look forward to introducing the performance of our high-performance smart EV to more Gran Turismo players and automotive enthusiasts."

During the partnership announcement event, Yamauchi highlighted the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra as an outstanding product in the smart EV sector, showcasing its competitive performance at the North Loop of Nürburgring as a testament to Xiaomi EV’s engineering capabilities.

Xiaomi, a global technology leader, is set to launch its first smart EV, the Xiaomi SU7, in 2024, completing the "Human×Car×Home" ecosystem. The flagship model, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, boasts advanced technologies, including the proprietary HyperEngine V8 system featuring three motors (27,200 rpm, 578 PS, 635 N·m). With a peak output of 1,548 PS and a maximum speed exceeding 350 km/h, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, setting numerous records as a four-door vehicle.

Pursuing optimal weight distribution and luxurious craftsmanship, the design incorporates up to 21 carbon fiber components (5.5 m²). The dynamic performance is complemented by elegant aesthetics. Xiaomi’s R&D team rigorously tests technologies such as torque vectoring and adaptive damping on circuits, including Nürburgring North Loop, ensuring real-world safety and superior handling are reflected in the driving experience.

To deliver a world-class product balancing exceptional performance and safety, Xiaomi’s R&D team conducts long-term local development at legendary circuits like the Nürburgring. Through thorough circuit validation, the team continuously enhances vehicle performance. The data collected from these demanding races undergoes rigorous validation and is adapted to all production models through advanced engineering.

Performance testing at globally renowned racing circuits serves as the ultimate testbed for automotive brands to refine their technology and quality. Xiaomi EV believes that excellent lap times are not just performance showcases but embody outstanding technology, uncompromising quality, and excellent safety standards.

At the event, Zhoucan Ren, Chief Test Driver and Vehicle Performance Development Lead at Xiaomi EV, stated, "Our team continuously participates in Nürburgring to constantly improve our products, pushing the limits of high-performance and elegant design EVs."

Gran Turismo 7 will introduce the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra through a collaborative development process, capturing its luxurious design and driving performance accurately.
