Nulab's New and Improved Gantt Chart Features in Backlog
Nulab, headquartered in Fukuoka, Japan, has announced an exciting update to its project and task management software,
Backlog. The latest update includes significant improvements to the Gantt chart functionalities, aimed at enhancing project visualization over extended timelines. This enhancement addresses the needs of teams managing long-term projects, allowing for a clearer overview without the hassle of adjusting displayed timelines frequently.
Key Features of the Update
1. Extended Display Period for Gantt Chart
One of the most beneficial aspects of this update is the extended display period of the Gantt chart. Previously limited to a maximum of six months, the Gantt chart can now represent timelines that span multiple years. This allows teams to monitor the overall progress of projects seamlessly and efficiently, without the need to change display settings.
- - Service Availability: Scheduled to be rolled out gradually starting on January 26, 2026, with completion set to be finalized by January 28, 2026.
- - Applicable Plans: This feature will be available to users of the Premium and Platinum plans.
2. Addition of 'Quarterly' Time Scale
In another enhancement, Nulab has introduced a new time scale labeled “quarterly” to the Gantt chart. Users will now have the option to view their project timelines segmented into quarters: January to March, April to June, July to September, and October to December. This addition simplifies the monitoring of mid to long-term planning and boosts users' productivity by allowing for a more strategic view of project milestones.
- - Service Availability: The quarterly scale will also roll out on January 26, 2026.
- - Applicable Plans: Available for Premium and Platinum plans.
3. Improved UI For Grouping Displays
Nulab is planning further updates that will refine the user interface for grouped displays within the Gantt chart. Upcoming enhancements will improve how grouped items are displayed and how users can interact with them. When hovering over the progress bars of grouped tasks, users will see the completion rates displayed, making tracking progress more intuitive. However, the completion rate will not be shown when tasks are grouped by the parent tasks.
- - Service Availability: These UI improvements are slated for release in February 2026.
- - Applicable Plans: Targeting Standard, Premium, and Platinum plans.
Looking Forward
Nulab remains committed to providing an environment that simplifies project planning and progress tracking. The ongoing enhancements to the Gantt chart functionalities and other features within Backlog are part of Nulab's mission to evolve this tool into a more practical project and task management resource for teams.
Through these developments, Nulab aims to support teams better in planning, executing, and sharing their project goals, ensuring that collaboration leads to improved productivity across the organization.
