Japan Direct Marketing's Short Drama Project Contest



Japan Direct Marketing Inc., headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, is evolving its comprehensive service approach into an integrated service company focused on entertainment, global outreach, and digital transformation. As part of this journey, they have announced an exciting initiative: a Short Drama Project Contest aimed at discovering and nurturing talent in the film industry.

This contest, part of the AYET project in collaboration with SSFF & ASIA (Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia), aims to create a platform for young creators to participate in video production. The contest is designed to widely solicit project plans for short films, while simultaneously providing support through production funding and IP development.

Contest Details


The contest will officially kick off on July 10, 2026, allowing aspiring filmmakers to submit their innovative ideas. A budget of 10 million yen will be allocated to selected projects, which will not only receive financial backing but also credit as project planners, along with royalties based on commercial success. More information regarding application guidelines, selection methods, rights conditions, and royalty details will be announced in due course.

In the launch event, Akimoto Yasushi, the producer in charge, expressed his enthusiasm via video message. He emphasized the importance of creating spaces for young talents to engage in video production. His collaboration with the UCLA Blockchain Development Team and Japan Direct Marketing through the AYET project is anticipated to provide ample opportunities for submissions.

In alignment with this vision, Mitsutani Akira, the CEO of Japan Direct Marketing, highlighted that the AYET project serves to promote Japanese content overseas while fostering creators from around the globe. He envisions forming new units and the creation of derivative 2D characters as integral elements of developing intellectual properties that will engage communities and eventually facilitate the release of international film works.

Tetsuya Bessho, the representative of SSFF & ASIA, also shared his insights during the event. Expressing excitement about the collaboration, he noted that leveraging the film festival's expertise along with the capabilities of the WEB3.0 creator platform, Life Log Box, will provide robust support for the contest.
