Dive into Picasso's World at the Yokumoku Museum
This August 9, the Yokumoku Museum in Tokyo is set to host a special event titled the "Picasso Worksheet Tour." This unique experience aims to ignite enthusiasm for art appreciation and deepen participants' understanding of various artistic perspectives, specifically through the creative lens of Pablo Picasso's ceramic works.
The event is designed for pairs to interact with a museum educational curator, utilizing custom worksheets curated for this occasion. Unlike traditional museum tours that often rely on one-sided explanations, this tour encourages participants to engage in open conversations about the artwork. By sharing thoughts and interpretations, visitors can gain new insights and personal connections to Picasso’s creations.

Artistic Exploration of Picasso's Ceramics
This event is part of an ongoing exhibition, “Picasso Ceramics: The Art of 'Mitate'.” This exhibition, which runs until December 28, 2025, interprets Picasso’s experimental work with sculptures and ceramics through the Japanese cultural concept of “mitate,” or metaphorical representation. The exhibit highlights how Picasso’s playful approach to form transforms existing objects, such as using jars to depict birds or round plates to symbolize bullfighting arenas or faces.
By reinterpreting these creative processes as humorous metaphors within the framework of the Japanese tradition, the exhibition seeks to unveil the richness of Picasso’s artistic experimentation during the post-war period.
