TSUTAYA Launches Its Latest Trading Card Store in Totsuka
On October 17, 2025, TSUTAYA proudly opened its sixth trading card specialty store,
TSUTAYA Trading Card Totsuka, located on the 7th floor of Totsuka Modi. This new store epitomizes the brand’s commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for trading card enthusiasts, particularly focusing on women and children visiting the diverse attractions at Totsuka Modi.
A Space for Trading Card Enthusiasts
The store boasts 68 player stations designed for face-to-face competitions, featuring a combined inventory of approximately
200,000 cards, both new and used. This extensive collection aims to enhance the trading card experience for visitors, encouraging them to discover and strengthen their decks while enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.
The rise in popularity of trading cards as a leisure activity has been notable, especially post-COVID-19, attracting a broad demographic that includes both young and mature audiences, regardless of gender. TSUTAYA first ventured into trading cards in earnest in 2018 and has since expanded its services to approximately 180 locations nationwide, all featuring dedicated game stations. The brand plans to continue enhancing this community-driven environment in the future.

TSUTAYA Trading Card offers free-to-use player stations that host a variety of official tournaments and uniquely designed in-store events to foster communication among customers. The first of these specialty stores,
TSUTAYA Trading Card Kinshicho, opened its doors in December 2023, marking a new chapter for the brand. With over
200 events hosted monthly and activities designed for newcomers, the store invites a diverse range of visitors to engage in trading card battles and community-building events.

The store spans approximately 60 tsubo (around 198 square meters) and features a bright, open layout with
68 player stations. It’s designed for cleanliness and comfort, ensuring a welcoming space for nearby residents, as well as those stopping by after school or work. The atmosphere is particularly inviting for women and children, and various beginner-friendly events are planned to encourage community interactions.
2. Extensive Inventory
With around
200,000 cards available, Totsuka’s location boasts one of the largest trading card inventories in the area. Customers can easily search for and strengthen their decks using one of four product inquiry machines available in-store. Additionally, they can sell used cards at the designated counter, making it convenient for both shoppers and sellers.
3. Building Connections Through Events
Monthly, the store hosts more than
80 events, including official tournaments and beginner sessions to help forge new friendships within the trading card community. Even during off-hours when no events are scheduled, all players are welcome to use the station space for free play.
