Lee Cowie Takes the Helm as CEO of accesso® Amid AI Expansion Plans

Lee Cowie Takes Charge of accesso®

accesso Technology Group, a prominent name in global technology for the leisure, entertainment, and cultural sectors, has officially announced the appointment of Lee Cowie as its new Chief Executive Officer. This leadership transition comes as part of a strategic plan following a remarkable year marked by record venue wins, expansion in Software as a Service (SaaS), and significant investment in artificial intelligence technologies.

Lee Cowie, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer, has a wealth of experience in the technology sector, specifically within leisure and hospitality. Cowie’s journey includes a notable seven-year tenure at Merlin Entertainments, where he held the position of Chief Technology Officer, overseeing technology initiatives across numerous visitor attractions across the globe. With more than 15 years of international leadership experience in technology, his appointment is aimed at steering accesso towards its ambitious growth plans.

Cowie succeeds the company's founder, Steve Brown, who has led accesso since its inception in 2008. Under Brown's guidance, accesso emerged as a critical technology partner, providing operational support to over 1,100 venues across 31 countries spanning various industries, including attractions, ski resorts, hospitality, and live entertainment. Brown expressed confidence in Cowie's leadership, stating, “This transition has been carefully planned, and I’m leaving the business in very good hands.” He emphasized that Cowie’s comprehensive industry knowledge and understanding of client needs make him the right leader for accesso's future.

As CEO, Cowie aims to build upon the existing strong foundation laid by Brown. His strategic agenda will focus on three key priorities: the development of accesso IntelligenceSM, an AI-powered analytics and forecasting platform that leverages the recent acquisition of Dexibit®; implementing a streamlined payments protocol designed to improve transaction experiences for both operators and guests; and fostering integration across accesso's range of products to create a more connected user experience.

Cowie articulated his vision, stating, “Accesso has spent 25 years building the infrastructure and ecosystem that operators trust with the moments that matter most. My focus from here is on making that infrastructure more intelligent, more connected, and simpler for the operators and visitors who depend on it.
