Nordic Capital Sells ArisGlobal to Dassault Systèmes in Major Lifesciences Deal
Nordic Capital Sells ArisGlobal to Dassault Systèmes
In a landmark deal for the life sciences industry, Nordic Capital has announced a definitive agreement to sell ArisGlobal to Dassault Systèmes. This transaction signifies Nordic Capital's full exit from ArisGlobal and encapsulates a successful partnership that has seen the company transition into a highly scaled, AI-enabled platform catering to the needs of over 200 life sciences organizations globally, including contract research organizations (CROs) and various government health authorities.
ArisGlobal, established in 1989 and based in Waltham, Massachusetts, specializes in developing regulatory, safety, and quality software solutions. Its flagship product, the LifeSphere® platform, is an innovative cloud-native suite that assists life sciences firms in managing complex regulatory submissions, conducting pharmacovigilance workflows, and processing clinical data on a unified platform, thus promoting better compliance and operational efficiency. The integration of advanced AI automation within core pharmacovigilance workflows further enables organizations to minimize manual labor and expedite their safety case management procedures.
The Transformational Journey
Nordic Capital initially invested in ArisGlobal in 2019, closely collaborating with the original founding family and management team to implement a bold development strategy. Their ongoing support led to significant advancements, including the transition to a cloud-native framework that empowered ArisGlobal to harness AI technology in drug safety management actively. A pivotal achievement was the launch of NavaX, a generative AI solution that automates and streamlines safety case processing. This technology has already garnered interest from many leading pharmaceutical firms, distinguishing ArisGlobal's offerings in the competitive landscape.
Compared to when Nordic Capital first joined hands with ArisGlobal, the firm now boasts a strengthened management and commercial team, alongside two key acquisitions that have expanded its capabilities significantly. Currently, ArisGlobal serves over 200 customers, with more than half of the world's top 50 biopharma companies relying on its sophisticated software. Furthermore, it processes over 12 million safety cases each year, projecting revenues of around USD 175 million for 2026.
Synergistic Fit with Dassault Systèmes
The partnership between Nordic Capital and ArisGlobal yielded exceptional results, positioning ArisGlobal effectively in a market increasingly characterized by regulatory complexity and heightened volumes of data. As clients seek more robust software solutions that can keep pace with industry demands, the advanced capabilities provided by ArisGlobal are advantageous for future growth opportunities. By combining ArisGlobal’s leadership in AI-driven safety and regulatory software with Dassault Systèmes' extensive research and manufacturing capabilities, a comprehensive and strategic fit emerges.
The sale will afford ArisGlobal access to Dassault Systèmes' global resources, customer reach, and investment capacity, thereby reinforcing its pathway for future innovation and expansion. Daniel Berglund, a partner and head of healthcare at Nordic Capital Advisors, emphasized the pride they feel in what has been achieved with ArisGlobal during their partnership. He expressed excitement about seeing the company continue to thrive under the new ownership.
Pending regulatory approvals, the comprehensive transaction is anticipated to conclude in the latter half of 2026. The financial advisory roles were filled by Evercore and Jefferies LLC, with Kirkland & Ellis providing legal counsel to ArisGlobal.
Looking Ahead
With regulatory complexities on the rise and a continual increase in adverse event reporting, the demand for advanced software solutions in the life sciences sector is set to grow. As such, ArisGlobal is positioned favorably to meet this demand through products that automate compliance workflows, decrease manual processing, and help organizations manage regulatory risks more effectively. The union of ArisGlobal and Dassault Systèmes promises to create a dynamic entity capable of driving innovation and leadership in the life sciences landscape.
