What to Expect
1. Cooperative Living and Learning
Children will partake in various roles, taking care of animals like goats and chickens, and even preparing meals. This structured yet self-directed approach promotes autonomy and teamwork as they determine duties through their discussions. As each day unfolds, they will rotate responsibilities, fostering communication skills, creativity, and collaboration.
2. Stargazing in a Prime Location
The camp offers unique activities such as stargazing with powerful telescopes in one of Japan's best locations for star visibility. Known for its breathtaking night skies, Samegawa Village allows participants to witness the wonders of the universe, while also enjoying river climbing, bug catching, and even stone oven pizza-making – all designed to enhance their connection with nature.
3. Engaging in Food Education
The event also emphasizes food literacy through agriculture. Campers will participate in harvesting fresh summer vegetables and collecting eggs from the henhouse, leading to their hands-on culinary experiences. This not only introduces kids to healthy eating but also teaches the importance of where food comes from, making it a unique educational opportunity.
Daily Schedule
Here’s a brief outline of what the campers can expect:
- - Day 1: Depart from Tokyo, settle in, orientation, and engage in rock climbing and arts & crafts followed by animal care and evening activities involving meal preparation.
- - Day 2: More animal care, river climbing adventures, an evening of self-cooked dinner and nighttime stargazing.
- - Day 3: Further farm activities, nature exploration, and working together to create delicious homemade pizza.
