A Message from Director Yoshihiko Shibasaki
The story of 'Pink Dragon' originated more than 20 years ago in Bulgaria, where the remnants of history intertwine with modernity. In Japan, places like caves, wells, and forests serve as portals where everyday life meets the fantastical. Today’s children, surrounded by smartphones and tablets, learn and play in a fast-paced world filled with information. While they excel in visual processing and quick comprehension, it’s essential to nurture their imagination and the ability to visualize worlds from scratch.
Hatch's journey of exploration encourages children to unleash their inner creativity, demonstrating the power of imagination. In parenting and creativity, there are no rigid answers. It is hoped that this performance, with the unique charm of puppetry, serves as a gentle bridge between parents and children, facilitating a warmhearted connection. Attendees are invited to delight in their individual imaginative worlds during the show.
The Story Unfolds
Hatch, an adventurous little girl, absolutely adores dragons. Her parents indulge her passion by reading captivating dragon tales from storybooks. On what should be a joyous occasion—her sixth birthday party—Hatch finds herself anxiously awaiting her mother's arrival as she is late returning from work. Growing impatient, Hatch eventually drifts into a dream.
In her dream, she encounters a small, pink dragon that embodies shyness and fear, incapable of breathing fire. Together, along with Hatch's father who takes on the role of a dragon, they embark on a whimsical yet bittersweet adventure.
