The 'Meeting of Medical Minds' is a limited online series that consists of four episodes showcasing significant figures in medical history and their impact on contemporary health issues. The series is a collaboration between Mercy Medical Center and its distinguished 'Women in Medicine' program at Mercy High School in Baltimore. This initiative aims to inspire high school students by providing them with exposure to key healthcare leaders, enhancing their understanding of medical fields, and nurturing skills that are essential for future careers in healthcare.

In each episode, actors take on the roles of historical medical figures, initiating roundtable discussions moderated by Mercy Medical Center's healthcare professionals. Featured portrayals include Hippocrates, known as the Father of Western Medicine; Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman in the United States to earn a medical degree; Dr. Joseph Lister, a pioneer in antiseptic surgery; and Dr. Charles Drew, who was instrumental in the establishment of America’s first large-scale blood bank.

Senior director of media relations at Mercy Medical Center, Dan Collins, shared insights into the inception of the series. He credits his inspiration to comedian and television host Steve Allen, who produced a similar program in the 1970s. Collins envisioned a modern adaptation, targeting the field of medicine while inviting a younger audience to engage in vital discussions about health and social issues.

Local actors, including Jim Hart, Jennifer Mikulski, and Timoth David Copney, have been cast to breathe life into these historical figures, aided by local community theaters for costume and set designs.
