Toyota Mobility Tokyo Unveils 'Auto Gallery Kodaira plus'
On April 25, 2023, Toyota Mobility Tokyo (TM Tokyo), led by President Yasuhiko Sato, opened the doors to its latest venture, the 'Auto Gallery Kodaira plus' in Higashikurume City, Tokyo. This innovative space is set to transform how the community interacts with automotive sales and services, coinciding with another opening of the Uniqlo Kodaira Shin-Oume Street Store on the same day.
A Community-Centric Design
Situated on an expansive lot facing Shin-Oume Street, the Auto Gallery features a striking open entrance. The ground floor hosts a dedicated area for car negotiations, alongside a communal space called 'Kodaira Miraie.' This plaza is aimed at fostering community engagement and interaction among local residents. Additionally, a sustainable corner within the gallery will enhance awareness of recycling initiatives, including programs for collecting plastic bottle caps to promote reuse and recycling practices.
Outdoor exhibition spaces are also planned, with regular events and food trucks anticipated, stimulating local interest and engagement.
Redefining Used Car Sales
TM Tokyo is revolutionizing the used car market with what it terms a 'new business model for used cars.' Launched in 2021, the concept of 'Auto Gallery' allows customers to inquire about vehicles listed online, with the gallery connecting them to the nearest store for further discussions and inspections. This model provides an accessible way for customers, including those residing far away, to explore a wide range of vehicles.
Starting in November 2023, a new online platform named U-LIVE will be introduced, enabling customers to engage in live discussions while viewing cars. The Kodaira plus location is the first in-person Auto Gallery, offering both a display area for customers to freely choose their vehicles and a dedicated filming booth for U-LIVE negotiations. This innovative approach aims to provide comprehensive support from vehicle introduction to purchase at local stores, enriching the Auto Gallery experience significantly.
Emphasizing Local Community Ties
Manager Yoshinaga expressed excitement about the new gallery's potential, stating, "In addition to the functions of our traditional gallery, we aim to engage with our customers through local revitalization events at Miraie and experiential content that fosters relationships. We strive to create a welcoming space that becomes the most favored store in the neighborhood."
To celebrate the openings, TM Tokyo will feature limited-edition collaboration merchandise, including an original T-shirt and tote bags featuring their character 'Anzen Number One-kun,' available exclusively at the Uniqlo Kodaira Shin-Oume store starting April 25. The T-shirt will retail for 1990 yen, while the tote bags will be priced at 1990 yen for the small size and 2490 yen for the large size.
The 'Auto Gallery Kodaira plus' aims to not only drive sales but also engage in community-rooted initiatives that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), ensuring it establishes itself as the go-to store in the community.
