Purina Donates $200,000 in Pet Food to Flood-Affected Areas
In a generous act of support for communities devastated by recent flooding in eastern Kentucky, southern West Virginia, and western Virginia, Purina is stepping up to help. The company is partnering with
Greater Good Charities, a prominent global nonprofit organization, to provide crucial aid amidst this crisis. The floods, which have continued for several weeks, have not only left many families without power or heat but have tragically claimed at least 22 lives.
To alleviate the suffering, Purina has committed to donating over
80 tons of pet food, with an estimated value exceeding
$200,000. This essential food supply will be sourced from their manufacturing facilities located in Clinton and Davenport, Iowa, Dunkirk, New York, and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The donated food will be distributed to local pet welfare organizations tasked with caring for displaced pets. This initiative aims to ease the burden on families affected by the disaster who are also concerned about their beloved pets.
"Our hearts go out to the communities affected by the devastating floods," commented Kim Beardslee, Director of Community Affairs at Purina. She emphasized the strength of their long-standing tradition of assisting both people and pets in the aftermath of natural disasters. Purina's collaboration with Greater Good Charities continues to be a vital component of its broader commitment to support individuals and animals through challenging times.
Purina's recent donation underscores its role in emergency relief efforts, showcasing how companies can directly impact communities during crises. The aid provided will extend beyond just nutrition for pets; it embodies support for families struggling to recover amid adversity. As many face difficult times, Purina remains dedicated to ensuring that both pets and their families have access to the resources they need for recovery.
