Alps Blockchain Announces Rebranding as Alps, Positioning for Future Growth

Alps Blockchain Announces Rebranding as Alps

Alps Blockchain, a leading European player in digital infrastructure and Bitcoin mining, has officially announced its rebranding to simply "Alps." This strategic decision marks a significant evolution for the company, transitioning from a pioneering Bitcoin mining operator to a fully integrated infrastructure firm that designs, builds, and operates advanced data centers capable of transforming energy into digital computing power.

Francesco Buffa, the CEO and co-founder of Alps, expressed that the rebranding reflects the company’s transformation. He stated, "We are no longer just a blockchain company; we are an infrastructure company. We design, build, and operate highly efficient data centers from the ground up, converting energy into compute power that drives the digital economy."

The firm has successfully established itself in the digital infrastructure sector since its inception in 2018. Alps has developed and managed modular, energy-efficient data centers across various locations, including Italy, Paraguay, Ecuador, Oman, and the United States. The company is set to reach a processing power of 15 EH/s in the near future, which accounts for approximately 1.5% of the global Bitcoin hash rate, through existing infrastructure and energy contracts.

Francesca Failoni, CFO and co-founder of Alps, emphasized the financial stability generated from providing computing power to the Bitcoin network. She noted that this operation has historically produced a consistent cash flow within the digital infrastructure industry. This solid financial foundation positions Alps to plan strategically for long-term growth and the integration of new applications such as high-performance computing for AI.

Expanding Horizons

In addition to Bitcoin mining, the company is diversifying its operations to accommodate high-performance computing, broadening its scope to include future computing demands driven by AI technologies. The transition to the name Alps encapsulates this expanded mission, aiming to position the company as a pivotal player at the intersection of energy and digital infrastructure.

Alps utilizes a vertically integrated approach, overseeing the entire value chain from site development and electrical engineering to manufacturing containerized data centers and onsite operations. This methodology allows for scalable and sustainable deployments worldwide, aligning with their ambitious expansion goals through 2029.

Despite the name change, the company's legal structure, shareholder composition, and ongoing projects will remain unchanged, ensuring a seamless transition as they pivot towards broader horizons in the field of digital infrastructure.

Alps is dedicated to fulfilling its mission of creating energy-efficient data centers that convert energy into processing power for Bitcoin mining while preparing for the expansion into high-performance computing applications. The company was founded in Trento in 2018 and has made significant strides across Europe, the Middle East, and America.
