Huawei Launches AI Practice LAB

During the recent HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 conference, a major global education summit took place in Shanghai, focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence and education. The slogan for this year's summit was "Artificial Intelligence and Education: Building the Foundation for Talents in the Digital and Intelligent Era."

At this event, Huawei introduced its global initiative - the AI Practice LAB (AIPL) and a comprehensive white paper on practical AI+ education. This launch marks a significant step toward redefining how educational institutions approach talent development in the age of AI.

The Need for Practical Education

With the rapid advancement of AI-driven educational reforms, traditional teaching models are increasingly inadequate for addressing the industry's demand for practical skills. Recognizing this gap, Huawei has made talent development in artificial intelligence a key priority within higher education. Tao Jingwen, Vice Chairwoman of Huawei's Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of integrating AI technology in collaboration with educational and industrial sectors as they delve deeper into practical education models. At the summit, Li Junfeng, Huawei's Vice President and General Manager of the Global Public Sector Division, along with other notable figures like Pang Chuanchun from Huawei’s educational services and academia representatives, highlighted how the AIPL solution is currently being utilized in collaboration with 12 key partners. The practical educational solutions leveraging AI have been implemented at numerous institutions, including the Beijing Institute of Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The purpose of this global launch is to promote the concept and practical solutions of AI in education worldwide, advancing innovations in AI talent development.

Additionally, the summit witnessed the release of the "White Paper on Practical AI+ Education," outlining theoretical frameworks and practical pathways for transforming talent development paradigms in higher education in the AI era. The white paper centers on the theme of “AI and Practical Teaching,” presenting a transformative reference framework with one foundational aspect, two types of elements, three levels of courses, a four-dimensional assessment approach, and a five-party ecosystem. This framework aims to provide a systematic and practical guide for university administrators, educators, educational researchers, and industry professionals.
