GENYOUth Expands Leadership with Two Key Appointments to Its Board of Directors

GENYOUth Welcomes New Board Members

In a significant move aiming to enhance its impact on children's health and nutrition, GENYOUth has announced the addition of two prominent members to its Board of Directors. Douglas Fry, the President of Subway North America, and Nancy Dalton, the Director of Amazon Access, will play crucial roles in guiding the organization’s efforts to ensure that schoolchildren have access to nutritious food and opportunities for physical activity.

GENYOUth, co-founded by America’s dairy farmers and the NFL, is dedicated to providing resources and support to young people, enabling them to lead well-nourished and physically active lives. The organization has made remarkable strides in addressing issues related to student hunger and nutrition insecurity across the United States.

A Warm Welcome to New Members
The CEO of GENYOUth, Ann Marie Krautheim, expressed her excitement regarding the appointments. She stated, "On behalf of GENYOUth and our Board of Directors, I am honored to welcome Douglas Fry and Nancy Dalton to our leadership team. Doug and Nancy's deep passion for ending student hunger, combined with their extensive experience and unwavering commitment to youth health and wellbeing, will be a driving force in advancing our mission."

Douglas Fry’s Commitment to Nutrition
Douglas Fry has a strong track record in promoting nutrition and children's health. His leadership at Subway has not only transformed the brand but has also prioritized initiatives aimed at improving children's access to nutritious foods. Fry, being a father himself, emphasizes the importance of ensuring children have the food and resources they need to thrive in school and life. "I believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed," Fry remarked, after his appointment.

Nancy Dalton’s Advocacy for Equitable Access
Joining Fry is Nancy Dalton, who brings a wealth of experience in government relations and community outreach. She has been a champion for Amazon's initiatives aimed at reducing food insecurity, particularly in education settings. Reflecting on her personal experiences, Dalton noted, "Growing up, my mother relied on government assistance programs to put food on the table. That experience shaped my belief that access to nutritious food should never depend on where you live."

Her advocacy for children’s health is apparent, and she is keen to collaborate with GENYOUth to amplify the organization's outreach in underserved communities.

Collective Goals of the Board
Barbara O'Brien, Chair of the GENYOUth Board, highlighted the importance of having members like Fry and Dalton. She stated, "With the commitment of America's dairy farmers, GENYOUth is leading the charge in tackling nutrition insecurity and promoting physical activity among our youth. Their dedication is essential for the nation's future wellbeing."

The board comprises a diverse group, including professionals ranging from the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to renowned chefs and health experts, all focused on improving the health and wellbeing of America’s children. Together, they aim to ensure that schools are equipped with necessary resources to support children’s nutritional needs.
