Exciting Collaboration Brings Kanji Quiz Event to Kobe Suma Sea World

Dive into the Kanji Quiz at Kobe Suma Sea World

Kobe Suma Sea World, known for its unique marine animal performances and educational zones, is set to host an exciting event called "Uo! Tokubetsu Kanji Quiz". This innovative initiative is a collaborative effort between Kobe Suma Sea World, Kobe Women's University, and Mathtex Inc., aimed at blending education and entertainment for an engaging experience.

As part of its mission to provide an "edutainment" experience, the aquarium offers visitors the chance to learn about its marine life through fun Kanji quizzes while also promoting sustainable practices.

Event Details

Starting on January 10, 2026, guests can enjoy an interactive panel display featuring various Kanji quizzes related to marine creatures. The main quiz event is scheduled for January 25, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Orca Hall, located on the first floor of Orca Stadium. During this event, students from the Department of Japanese Language and Literature at Kobe Women's University will present quizzes inspired by the aquarium's marine life. Participants will get to explore everything from the well-known Kanji for 'Shachi' (killer whale) to more challenging and obscure characters. This educational format aims to deepen understanding of these Kanji characters through quizzes and explanations.

Additionally, all participants will receive a special postcard made from recycled paper known as "ASUKAMI®" to commemorate their involvement in this learning experience.

Registration and Participation

The event has a maximum capacity of 50 participants and is free; however, a ticket to the aquarium is required for entry. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Interested individuals are encouraged to register online during the application period, which runs from January 10 to January 18, 2026. Due to potential high demand, a lottery system will be implemented for registrations.

Visit Kobe Suma Sea World for registration and additional information.
