CPHI & PMEC China 2025: A Renaissance in the Pharmaceutical Industry
From June 24 to 26, the CPHI & PMEC China trade show will return to the Shanghai New International Expo Center, boasting a substantial increase in international attendance. This resurgence signals not only a recovery in global trade but also an optimistic outlook for the pharmaceutical industry. Over 90,000 visitors and more than 12,000 international executives are expected to participate, making this event the largest of its kind in Asia.
The rising interest from foreign attendees represents a response to the easing of trade tariffs, improved forecasts for pharmaceutical products, and increased capital investments across the sector. The event will showcase international leaders in search of new suppliers for raw materials and equipment within China's robust manufacturing ecosystem.
One notable trend is the growing interest from Western pharmaceutical companies in Chinese biotech assets. These companies are not only seeking access to the domestic market but are also exploring global licensing opportunities. Meanwhile, countries from the Middle East have significantly increased their participation, as Gulf nations implement strategies to establish regional manufacturing hubs and are joined by more delegations from India and the United States.
Natasha Jennings, Head of Global Growth Marketing, stated, “The fundamentals of the industry remain very strong, with worldwide pharmaceutical companies reaching record targets for new preparations and returning to a growth trajectory.” International attendees are utilizing China's vast network of enterprises engaged in ingredients, manufacturing, and raw materials to drive global production growth.
With 80% of the international attendees having purchasing authority and over 50% in senior management positions, this high level of engagement reflects the industry's enthusiasm. Supplementary programs will offer specialized sessions for buyers of natural extracts on June 23 and for pharmaceutical equipment buyers from June 24 to 25. The exhibition will also feature the prestigious CPHI Celebration Awards and a special conference, including a bio-pharmaceutical market forecast summit, innovation gallery, and visits to regional facilities.
Spanning over 230,000 square meters, the event will host around 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries, featuring 12 specialized areas, including new sectors for “Biotechnology” and “Flow and Precision Equipment.” Jennings emphasized, “Global executives are actively looking for ways to expand their networks in China, connecting with primary, supplementary, and backup suppliers for long-term strategic planning. Alongside improved trade relationships, we are witnessing the renewal of global partnerships in the pharmaceutical sector.”
