Honda and Hololabo Collaborate on New Attraction at Mobility Resort Motegi
Starting April 26, 2025, a thrilling new attraction titled
'Forest Investigation Squad: UNI-ONE × AR' has officially opened at
Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Hololabo Inc. and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. This innovative experience fuses next-generation personal mobility, known as
UNI-ONE, with state-of-the-art AR (Augmented Reality) technology.
Enhancing Human Abilities
The UNI-ONE mobility device offers an exciting new form of transportation, allowing users to move in any direction simply by shifting their weight while keeping their hands free. This technology is part of Honda's vision of
'enhancing human abilities,' focusing on how personal mobility can provide a seamless experience.
Hololabo, with its expertise in XR (Extended Reality) technologies, including AR glasses, recognized the potential of integrating these technologies. This partnership represents a fascinating intersection between mobility and digital experiences, creating opportunities for
'UNI-ONE × XR' collaboration. Initial explorations began with a previous project,
'UNI-ONE Underwater Exploration', which garnered significant feedback, confirming the harmonious blend of AR glasses and the UNI-ONE.
The Forest Investigation Squad Experience
The newly developed attraction,
'Forest Investigation Squad: UNI-ONE × AR,' takes everything learned from prior events to create an inclusive experience for participants of all ages, from children to the elderly. While riding the UNI-ONE, visitors wear custom AR glasses, specifically the
XREAL Air 2 Ultra developed by
Xreal Inc.. The experience is both educational and entertaining, engaging users in a mission to discover acorns and wildlife in the picturesque
Motegi Satoyama, enhanced by the immersive capabilities of AR.
As visitors traverse this augmented reality environment, seasonal changes create an evolving landscape filled with diverse wildlife and insects, unveiling insights into local ecology. For example, participants might find themselves swirling through the air, thanks to simulated wind effects linked to their UNI-ONE movements, which adds an element of excitement to the exploration.
This game-like aspect, where users can track the number of animals and insects they discover, allows for an educational undertone, facilitating learning about biodiversity in Motegi's forests. Even adults can expect to discover new information in this engaging format, reinforcing the attraction's broad appeal.
A Permanent Attraction
Unlike other limited-time events, the
'Forest Investigation Squad: UNI-ONE × AR' attraction is designed to be a semi-permanent fixture at Mobility Resort Motegi. Honda remains committed to expanding the enjoyment of personal mobility through XR technologies, and Hololabo will continue to collaborate on content development and innovative experiences.
