Omya Showcases Sustainable Innovations at K 2025 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber

Omya's Commitment to Sustainability at K 2025

Omya, a leading global producer of essential minerals and a distributor of specialty materials, is set to make waves at K 2025, the foremost trade fair dedicated to plastics and rubber, taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany. Their participation showcases a strong dedication to sustainability with a spotlight on innovations in performance polymer materials, decarbonization efforts, and lightweighting solutions. Visitors to their booth (Hall 6, Booth D75) can expect an immersive experience in sustainable technologies.

Launch of Omya Performance Polymers Distribution (OPPD)

One of the standout features of Omya’s exhibit will be the introduction of the Omya Performance Polymers Distribution (OPPD). Launched earlier this year, OPPD combines Omya's extensive polymer distribution network with Distrupol’s capabilities, enhancing the company’s ability to serve the ever-evolving global market. This strategic venture highlights Omya's commitment to offering a comprehensive variety of high-performance polymers tailored to meet diverse industrial needs.

Pioneering Decarbonization with Mineral Innovations

A key aspect of Omya's innovation strategy revolves around advanced calcium carbonate solutions. These products are designed to not only reduce carbon footprints but also enhance the performance of plastic applications. Notably, Omya is introducing pre-consumer recycled materials, including the Omyaloop FC for general-purpose use and Omya Smartfill 55-AV for engineering materials and biopolymers. These innovative grades, which utilize green electricity in their production and have been verified by Bureau Veritas, offer a remarkable reduction in emissions, up to two-thirds, while ensuring compliance with stringent EU sustainability regulations. Marco Viel, Vice President of Polymers at Omya, emphasized the dual benefit of their mineral solutions: "Our offerings significantly lower environmental impact while simultaneously boosting product performance."

Lightweighting Solutions for Diverse Industries

The lightweighting initiatives by Omya are also noteworthy, particularly their Omyasphere 900 series of hollow glass microspheres. Engineered for reduced weight without compromising strength, these microspheres are particularly valuable in the automotive, aerospace, and electronics sectors. They enhance material flow and allow for higher filler loading, providing improved thermal and dielectric properties.

Innovations in Hygiene Markets

Omya also addresses performance sustainability in the hygiene market with their new Omyafilm and Omyafiber products. The developments in Omyafilm allow for thinner films to be produced while maintaining process stability and product quality. On the other hand, Omyafiber caters to the nonwovens, textiles, and carpets industry, offering advantages such as reduced material costs and minimized environmental impact, along with superior technical performance.

A Comprehensive Approach to Polymer Solutions

Beyond its innovative mineral offerings, Omya also distributes a plethora of specialty materials, including bio-based additives and CO₂-reducing solutions, through strategic partnerships with top manufacturers. This integrated approach enables Omya to provide tailored and high-performance solutions that align with the dynamic needs of the plastics industry. With its extensive global reach and profound technical expertise, Omya is a valuable partner for organizations aiming for innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.

Invitation to Engage

Omya extends an invitation to all visitors at K 2025 to meet their expert team and witness live demonstrations of these cutting-edge solutions. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how Omya’s innovations are shaping a sustainable future for the plastics industry.
