Globis Launches the Visionary Leadership Program
Globis, a prominent educational organization based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is set to launch an innovative executive development program tailored for senior leaders of Japanese and multinational companies. The Visionary Leadership Program (VLP) aims to shape leadership transformations through the lens of Japanese values and management philosophies. Participants from around the globe will converge in Kyoto and Tokyo to refine their decision-making abilities and leadership grounded in a sense of purpose.
Context
In today's complex business landscape, characterized by heightened geopolitical risks, rapid technological advancements, and significant shifts in industry structures, leaders are often faced with challenging decisions devoid of clear-cut answers. This reality highlights the necessity of stepping beyond conventional thinking and perspectives to embrace new insights into leadership and management.
At the core of impactful decision-making lies the leader's personal values and sense of mission, serving as a compass during uncertain times. Japanese management philosophy is gaining attention as a resource for developing new viewpoints, emphasizing long-term thinking, stakeholder coexistence, harmony between humans and technology, and decision-making that prioritizes both explicit and tacit knowledge. VLP aims to instill a paradigm shift in leadership by immersing participants in Japan's unique culture and spirituality, allowing them to explore globally relevant leadership concepts.
Features of the VLP
1. Immersive Leadership Development in Japan
The program comprises five days of in-person sessions, with two days in Kyoto and three in Tokyo, enhanced by two online sessions before and after the program. Participants will experience traditional Japanese cultural activities such as Ikebana (flower arranging) and Zen meditation at Myoshinji temple, which will provide a deep understanding of values rooted in Japanese culture. Through these immersive experiences, participants will reevaluate their leadership perspectives and facilitate personal transformation.
2. Decision-Making Focused on Purpose
Leaders will confront fundamental questions like, "What do I want to leave for future generations?" and "What is the true role of a business in the AI era?" The program encourages the development of decision-making abilities rooted in diverse perspectives, as well as the clarification of personal convictions and building a reliable network that can support one another over time. It aims to nurture visionary leaders equipped with the foresight and decisiveness needed in our rapidly changing world.
3. A Global Learning Perspective Beyond Borders
The program is designed for senior managers and general managers from headquarters or overseas subsidiaries of Japanese and multinational companies, irrespective of nationality. It fosters dialogue among participants from varying regions, industries, and cultural backgrounds, broadening their perspectives in a global context. The sessions will be conducted in English, positioning the program as a cross-border learning opportunity for upcoming executive leaders.
Additionally, participants will gain eligibility to join G1 Global and G1 Silicon Valley, conferences that connect global leaders from economics, government, and academia to discuss global challenges. This provides a unique platform to expand their perspectives and professional networks.
