LONGi Achieves Top Ranking for Water Security by CDP and Continues Commitment to Sustainability

LONGi Achieves Top Ranking for Water Security by CDP

On February 7, 2025, the global non-profit organization, CDP, released its 2024 scoring results regarding climate change, water security, and forests. LONGi, a key player in the renewable energy sector, received an impressive 'A-' rating in Water Security, earning it the top spot among Chinese photovoltaic companies. This marks the first time LONGi has achieved this level of recognition. Additionally, the company maintained a 'B' score for its Climate Change management efforts for the second consecutive year.

CDP is recognized worldwide for its environmental disclosure system, which assists corporations, markets, cities, states, and regions in managing their ecological impact. By compiling the largest and most comprehensive dataset on environmental actions, CDP empowers stakeholders to make informed, Earth-positive decisions. The scores it provides are crucial in guiding investment and procurement, enhancing companies' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performances while lowering financing costs.

In 2024, over 3,600 Chinese firms disclosed their environmental data to CDP, highlighting the growing commitment to sustainability within the nation. Alarmingly, data from CDP indicates that six out of ten countries could be facing unsustainable water usage by 2050. Responding to these challenges, LONGi emphasizes the importance of sustainable development practices, particularly in water resource management and climate action. The company has adopted a water resource management policy that prioritizes environmental compliance, water conservation, economical discharge, and scientific governance.

To further manage its water resources, LONGi conducts annual water inventories across its global factories using the World Resources Institute (WRI) water risk atlas. This information shapes their targets for conservation. In 2023, LONGi focused on analyzing the water-saving potential across its production processes and initiated various measures, including exploring alternative water sources and optimizing capacity utilization. This led to the successful implementation of 118 water-saving initiatives, resulting in an impressive annual savings of 5.53 million tons of water. Overall, the company's water consumption dropped by 12.75% compared to the previous year and 33.52% when compared to its baseline year.

LONGi has been actively participating in the CDP surveys regarding Climate Change and Water Security since 2020. The company has shown consistent advancement in its sustainable development initiatives, culminating in its first recognition of 'Leadership Level' in Water Security. Looking ahead, LONGi is committed to promoting sustainable issues and fostering collaborative efforts with stakeholders to secure a healthier planet for future generations.
