César Acuña Núñez Advocates for Inclusive Education and Technology at UN Summit
César Acuña Núñez made a significant statement at the 20th International Human Rights Summit held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. As a representative of César Vallejo University (UCV), Acuña Núñez highlighted the vital roles of education and artificial intelligence in expanding opportunities and closing social gaps, two challenges that are becoming increasingly relevant in our digital age.
In his address, Acuña Núñez emphasized that education remains one of the most powerful tools for promoting equality. He urged that, in a world where technology is changing the ways we learn, work, and communicate, access to knowledge should be seen as a fundamental right. “Technology can be an incredible tool for reducing disparities and democratizing opportunities, but such progress must be accompanied by education, ethics, inclusion, and access,” he stated. He believes that real progress can only be achieved when knowledge is shared with those who have historically had fewer opportunities.
The summit, themed 'Education Promotes Peace,' also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI), a leading organization in promoting human rights education across various communities worldwide. This forum brought together diplomats, young leaders, educators, government representatives, human rights advocates, and civil society organizations from over 82 nations, emphasizing the importance of connecting the new generation with international leaders dedicated to human dignity, education, and peace.
Among the notable attendees was José Ramos-Horta, the President of East Timor and the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who has been recognized for his continuous commitment to peace, reconciliation, and human rights. His engagement underscores the summit's significance as a platform for addressing global issues.
Acuña Núñez, residing in the U.S., has been increasingly recognized for his work within the education sector through UCV. He has been engaged in various executive roles that focus on the modernization of education, digital transformation, and international expansion. UCV, founded in Peru in 1991, aims to broaden access to higher education and has developed an academic ecosystem that integrates new technologies and digital tools over the past thirty years.
Reflecting on his journey, Acuña Núñez noted, “We have witnessed how education can change not just the lives of students, but the lives of entire families and communities.” Looking toward the future, he envisions a collaboration where education, technology, and artificial intelligence work together to further democratize opportunities.
In 2025, Acuña Núñez represented UCV at HPE Discover in Las Vegas, a major global conference dedicated to advancing knowledge in artificial intelligence, connectivity, and digital infrastructure. His current initiatives focus on developing new education and technology programs tailored for the American market, with a specific focus on how these innovations can create opportunities for students, entrepreneurs, and the Hispanic community.
His vision for education is becoming more notably intertwined with technology, as he strives to bring some of the experiences garnered from Latin American education to a rapidly growing market where tech-focused education will play an increasingly critical role in economic and professional mobility.
Acuña Núñez concludes, “If we do not discuss the right to learn, gain knowledge, and participate in technological change, we cannot talk about the future of human rights. Artificial intelligence is set to transform the world; our responsibility is to ensure this new landscape encompasses everyone.”
Through his participation in the summit, Acuña Núñez marks a new phase in his international outreach where education, technology, leadership, and social impact intersect. His mission underscores the belief that knowledge can be one of the greatest democratizing forces of the 21st century.
