Global X Japan Launches New Nikkei 225 ETF on Tokyo Stock Exchange

Global X Japan's New Nikkei 225 ETF Makes a Splash in the Market

On September 9, Global X Japan Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Daiwa Securities Group based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, announced the debut of its latest fund, the Global X Nikkei 225 ETF (Ticker Code: 632A), on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Designed to track the Nikkei Average Total Return Index, the new ETF aims to provide investors with a straightforward way to invest in one of Japan's most prominent stock indices. This addition to the ETF market comes at a time when investor interest in diversified investment products is surging, particularly those that offer low fees and the potential for robust returns.

One of the standout features of this ETF is its annual trust fee, which is capped at 0.044% (including tax). This places it among the lowest cost options in its asset class. As the total net assets of the ETF grow, the fee structure is designed to decrease, encouraging investors to hold this product as a core asset in their portfolios while complementing it with thematic satellite investments.

Accessibility Through NISA

The Global X Nikkei 225 ETF is also eligible for NISA (Nippon Individual Savings Account) tax-deferred investing, including both installment and growth investment frameworks. It marks a significant milestone as the first product in the Global X range to be eligible for the installment investment framework, making it an attractive choice for long-term investors looking to build wealth steadily over time.

The firm aims to enhance convenience for its investors, specifically targeting a broad range of participants who are keen on long-term asset formation.

Investment Risks

Like any investment, this ETF comes with its share of risks. It is structured to invest in securities that exhibit price volatility. This means the net asset value can fluctuate, and investors should be wary that their principal investment is not guaranteed. Market risks—including price movements and credit risks—are inherent in such investments. The value will be influenced not just by market fluctuations but also by a variety of other factors that could affect performance.

Ownership and Index Usage

The Nikkei 225 and its associated indices are proprietary works developed by the Nikkei Inc., which retains all intellectual property rights, including copyright. The Global X Nikkei 225 ETF operates under the supervision and responsibility of its management company while the Nikkei Inc. does not bear any responsibility for its performance or trading.
