A New Kind of Experience in Tokyo: Hatenacoffee
An intriguing café experience is set to launch in Tokyo's bustling Ginza district! On October 1, 2025, the innovative escape café,
Hatenacoffee Tokyo Ginza, will open its doors. This venture is brought to you by
Experiful, a company known for its immersive entertainment concepts and engaging experiences.
What is Hatenacoffee?
Hatenacoffee stands out as a stylish café where patrons can sip their favorite beverages while unraveling mysteries at their leisure. Unlike traditional escape rooms, there’s no time limit here. Guests can relax, ponder, and solve puzzles at a comfortable pace with a coffee in hand. However, be warned—once you enter, you can’t leave until you’ve cracked the code! This setting encourages deep thought as you seek to uncover the singular truth hidden within the puzzles.
The puzzles at Hatenacoffee are entirely original creations by Experiful, utilizing their extensive experience in providing enjoyable and engaging challenges. You will encounter locked treasure chests, unusual items, and clever tricks that will keep your brain buzzing. Initially, most puzzles are designed for beginners, but there are plans to expand the range over time.
Pre-Opening Buzz
Just ahead of its opening, Hatenacoffee has already generated a buzz on social media, particularly on X. The first location, Hatenacoffee Yokohama, posted enigmatic teasers that attracted around 100,000 impressions in just one day. Excitement is building, and potential guests are eager to try their hands at the puzzles even before the café opens its doors.
For those curious about the challenge, a puzzle hint was shared to engage audiences further. You can read about it
here. With over 500 visitors in the first month at the Yokohama location and 800 at the Tokyo Shinjuku store within a month, the café concept has proven extremely popular.
A Symbolic Opening
Opening on
October 1 has special significance, as it coincides with both
Coffee Day and
Tokyo Citizens’ Day. The Yokohama location experienced weekends with two-hour waiting times, prompting the decision to expand with a third café in Ginza. With a commitment to delivering fine coffee to the people surrounding Tokyo, this opening day holds hopes for many patrons.
At Hatenacoffee, you can expect cozy atmospheres and relaxed mysteries, making it a unique hangout spot.
