The Tonttu Festival 2025, organized by the Non-Profit Organization Decent Work Lab, will take place on October 4th and 5th at Metsä Village in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. This festival invites everyone to experience diversity through engaging games and workshops, making it the perfect opportunity to learn and enjoy with friends and family.

A Unique Inclusive Experience



At the Tonttu Festival, which is now in its fifth year, the theme is "Let’s Go Exploring with Excitement and Thrill!" Attendees can immerse themselves in a variety of sensory experiences that emphasize both differences and similarities among people. This inclusive festival encourages participants to discover their interests and feelings, fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and growth.

Exciting Workshops and Games



Participants can look forward to a range of interactive workshops:

  • - Guide Dog Awareness: On October 4th, the Japan Assistance Dog Information Center will host a session focusing on guide dogs, service dogs, and hearing dogs. This educational workshop will include demonstrations and interactive experiences that highlight the roles these incredible animals play in supporting individuals with disabilities.

When: October 4th (Saturday) from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM and 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM
Cost: Free

  • - Tonttu Treasure Hunt: Join the fun on October 5th with a unique treasure hunt game that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their abilities. Participants will work together to complete missions by pushing, pulling, and tearing various elements in a team effort.

When: October 5th (Sunday) at intervals from 10:20 AM to 4:00 PM
Cost: Free

  • - Fragrant Uchiwa Fan Making: Unleash your creativity by painting special fragrant paints onto your own uchiwa (traditional Japanese fan). This hands-on workshop will be held on both days of the festival, providing a sensory experience of sight and smell.

When: October 4th and 5th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Cost: ¥500 (payment on-site)

  • - Himmeli Making: Learn how to create traditional Finnish decorations known as Himmeli on October 4th. Participants can make colorful or simple designs for various festive occasions.

When: October 4th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Cost: ¥200 (payment on-site)

  • - Silk Screen T-Shirt Making: On October 5th, attendees can use custom illustrations created for the festival to print on T-shirts and decorate them with fabric pens. It promises to be a colorful and artistic experience.

When: October 5th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Cost: Adults ¥1,500 / Children ¥1,000 (payment on-site)
