Hotel Granvia Wakayama is collaborating with the city of Wakayama to present a unique historical exhibition titled "The Traces of the Toyotomi Brothers at Wakayama Castle and the Water Attack of Ota Castle." This exhibition will commence on September 1, 2026, and will run for one month in the hotel's first-floor lobby.

Wakayama is a significant location in Japanese history, particularly for its ties to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a key figure in the unification of Japan, and his brother Toyotomi Hidetaka, who played a vital role as his right-hand man. The exhibition will shed light on the historical context of the 1585 Siege of Kishu, during which Hidetaka served as the chief architect of Wakayama Castle, highlighting the brothers’ enduring legacy.

The exhibition will feature panels provided by the city, detailing the remnants of the Toyotomi brothers at Wakayama Castle and insights into one of Japan’s three major water assaults, known as the Ota Castle Water Attack. Visitors will not only view the exhibits but also have the opportunity to engage with history through original walking maps created by the hotel, allowing guests to explore the Toyotomi-related sites firsthand.
