The news was shared during a special event held at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami, where NST confirmed that Miami would serve as the host city for the 2025 awards ceremony. The awards ceremony scheduled for December 4, 2025, at the stunning Vizcaya Museum and Gardens will honor pioneers in three key categories: Leadership in implementation, Biodiversity, and Smart Sustainable City Solutions. During the announcement, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava used her annual prerogative to allow the historic Vizcaya estate to host the ceremony.

Notably, Qatar's Minister of Municipality, H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya, presented an official letter confirming Doha's status as the 2026 host city. Peter Nobel, NST Chairman and a descendant of the Nobel family, remarked, "From Miami's shores to Qatar's deserts, we see the universal need for sustainable solutions." He highlighted that the alternating locations of the awards exemplify NST's commitment to creating a global impact in sustainability.

Qatar is increasingly recognized as a global leader in sustainability, driven by ambitious national initiatives and long-term strategic plans. The Ministry of Municipality has spearheaded transformative efforts focused on building smart cities, enhancing waste management, and integrating sustainability into the daily urban fabric. During the recent FIFA World Cup, the country demonstrated operational excellence in executing environmentally responsible logistics, with efficient waste diversion and smart transportation coordination, setting a benchmark for the region.

Qatar's vision includes generating 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030, preserving ecosystems, and reducing emissions, as outlined in the Third National Development Strategy (2024–2030).
