ENEOS and HRC Collaborate on Sustainable Technologies in Super耐久 Series

ENEOS and HRC Unite for Sustainable Technology in Motorsports

ENEOS Corporation has made an exciting announcement regarding its participation in the upcoming "ENEOS Super耐久 Series 2026 Empowered by BRIDGESTONE". The company has teamed up with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) to embark on a joint technology demonstration using environmentally friendly lubricants derived from plant-based base oils for the Team HRC's "CIVIC TYPE R HRC Concept".

The Super耐久 series provides an excellent platform for testing due to its rigorous conditions: high temperatures, heavy loads, and extended driving durations. Through this collaboration, ENEOS and HRC aim to establish cutting-edge automotive technologies that address key aspects such as:

  • - Understanding the environmentally friendly performance of sustainable materials
  • - Evaluating the durability of plant-derived base oils in extreme racing conditions
  • - Validating wear protection and lubrication performance under high-stress, high-rev conditions

Starting from the second round of the Super耐久 series, the Team HRC car #271, the CIVIC TYPE R HRC Concept, will utilize lubricants (engine oil and transmission oil) made from plant-based base oils. This initiative marks the beginning of a joint verification process. The use of plant-derived base oil is noteworthy as the plants used in its production absorb CO₂ during their growth cycles, significantly reducing the CO₂ emissions throughout the product lifecycle, from raw material sourcing to distribution.

By advancing technological verification in such extreme racing environments, ENEOS seeks to develop the next generation of high-performance, environmentally friendly lubricants. Under the guiding principle of "supporting today's norms and leading tomorrow's standards," the ENEOS Group strives to achieve a stable supply of energy and materials while also working towards a carbon-neutral society. In the mobility sector, the harmony between environmental performance and driving capabilities is increasingly becoming paramount.

As ENEOS collaborates with HRC, they are committed to deepening technology development that supports the future of mobility through extensive testing in harsh racing environments. Not only do these efforts support sustainable motorsport activities, but the technological data gathered will also be instrumental in advancing future vehicle technologies, paving the way for innovations in energy and materials with a keen focus on "the future of automobiles."

Note: The oil used in this project is a prototype designed for performance verification and is not intended for commercial sale at this time.
