Epsilor Unveils Revolutionary 6T Battery for Military Vehicles with Highest Energy Capacity
Epsilor Electric Fuel Ltd, a globally recognized manufacturer and developer of smart lithium-ion batteries and chargers, has launched its state-of-the-art 6T battery designed specifically for military vehicles. This innovative battery, named ELI-52526-GM, boasts an incredible energy capacity of 4,400 Wh (174 Ah), which is six times that of traditional lead-acid batteries and 50% greater than competing lithium-ion models. The battery will be highlighted at the upcoming International Armoured Vehicles Conference held in Farnborough, UK, from January 21-23, 2025.
In partnership with Arotech Corporation, based in Michigan, Epsilor continues to push forward in developing advanced electronic subsystems for defense applications. Prior to this launch, Epsilor’s COMBATT 6T batteries underwent extensive testing by independent U.S. laboratories to meet rigorous military specifications, specifically MIL-PRF-32565C (Type 2). These tests focused on several critical performance metrics including ballistic penetration, extreme heat tolerance up to 500˚C, and functionality across varying temperature extremes.
The newly developed ELI-52526-GM model is tailored to meet the demanding requirements of military use while ensuring a high energy output within a compact design of 28 kilograms. The high density of energy it delivers makes it especially suitable for a range of military applications, such as prolonged silent watch missions, energy regeneration, hybrid vehicle propulsion, robotics, and serving as auxiliary power systems. Ronen Badichi, President of Arotech's Energy Solutions Division and CEO of Epsilor, emphasizes that this new battery design addresses the critical safety concerns associated with lithium-ion batteries.
With its unique energy absorption design, Epsilor is setting a new standard in safety and performance for military batteries. In addition to the ELI-52526-GM, Epsilor offers several other high-capacity NATO-compliant lithium batteries within its COMBATT line, including capacities ranging from 3.6 kWh to 4.4 kWh, designed for various defense applications.
Moreover, the COMBATT ELI-52526-DM/GM batteries offer high-capacity energy, while the COMBATT ELP-02426-M is a high-capacity LFP battery known for its enhanced safety features. The ELI-52526-C lithium-ion battery also stands out with a high density of 4.2 kWh, providing cost-effective solutions for varying tactical needs.
