Navigating Legal Risks in Hiring Foreign Workers in Healthcare Industry

Free Seminar on Legal Risks of Employing Foreign Workers in Healthcare

In response to the growing need for labor in the caregiving sector, a free seminar titled "Navigating Legal Risks in Hiring Foreign Workers!" will be co-hosted by Papageno Inc. and Leo Global Works in March 2026. This seminar aims to educate healthcare managers and human resource personnel about the various legal aspects and considerations that come with employing foreign laborers in Japan.

Event Details:
  • - In-Person Session: March 6, 2026, from 18:00 to 19:00
  • - Online Session: March 24, 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00

This seminar will cover essential topics like visa categories, specific skills systems, and the steps involved from hiring to retention of foreign employees, making it suitable for managers considering foreign hiring.

Why Attend?

As Japan faces a significant labor shortage in the caregiving industry, there is an increasing interest from managers in leveraging foreign talent. However, one crucial aspect often overlooked is the legality of employing foreigners based on their visa types. For example, Papageno recently encountered challenges when attempting to hire a support staff member from China, whose visa did not authorize engagement in caregiving activities. It was only after consulting with legal advisors and submitting official documentation to immigration that they could proceed with the hiring.

If companies do not stay informed about these regulations, they risk encountering serious operational challenges after the hiring process, which could jeopardize their business. This seminar is tailored for business owners and HR professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of foreign employment laws and practices, ensuring they can effectively manage and support foreign staff.

Background of the Event

With the Japanese government's decision in April 2025 to officially allow foreign workers to engage in home care services under the specific skills visa, the landscape of the caregiving sector is rapidly changing. Current statistics show a staggering job availability ratio of 14.14 for home caregivers, demonstrating an urgent need to fill roles as 81.9% of care services report staffing shortages. Human resources in this sector must adapt to these new realities as the aging population grows, with over 24.4% of workers aged over 65.

This seminar seamlessly transitions candidates from contemplating the inclusion of foreign employees to actively implementing it into their business practices.
