GAC Energy Unveils Ambitious Plans for EV Charging Ecosystem by 2025
GAC Energy's Charging Ecosystem Report for 2025
On January 16, 2026, GAC Energy announced the release of its insightful 2025 Ecological Service Report, demonstrating significant advances in ultra-fast charging technology and further development of the nationwide charging network. The report is a cornerstone of the GAC Group's strategic initiative known as the "2⁶ Energy Action" strategy, which aims to create a comprehensive and vertically integrated ecosystem for new energy vehicles (NEVs).
As per the report, by the end of 2025, GAC Energy had successfully operated a staggering 23,274 self-operated charging piles across 31 provinces and 211 cities in China. This impressive infrastructure includes 17,577 DC (direct current) charging piles and 1,956 charging stations, serving an extensive customer base of 8.92 million users. Notably, GAC Energy delivered an astonishing 1.43 billion kWh of electricity, underscoring its leadership in the industry with over 1000V high-voltage fast charging capabilities.
Advancements in Ultra-Fast Charging
The report highlights key advancements in ultra-fast charging technology throughout the year. GAC Energy upgraded its ultra-fast charging piles to deliver up to 640 kW, with capabilities for individual charging guns reaching 720 kW and 800 A. An innovative introduction came in May 2025 with the launch of an AI-powered smart management cloud platform. This cutting-edge platform enables real-time control and automated operations for charging facilities, resulting in a remarkable 99.2% availability rate for equipment and significantly enhancing service reliability.
The charging network has entered an accelerated growth phase. By March 2025, GAC Energy reported that their charging services had facilitated over 100 million cumulative sessions, with the user base growing to more than 5 million. Additionally, round-the-clock service is available, ensuring that EV drivers can travel worry-free. By July, the total volume of charging surpassed 1 billion kWh, and in September, GAC Energy surpassed a significant milestone, becoming the leading operator with over 20,000 self-operated charging piles. By November, the charging network had expanded to include all major cities and vital travel corridors, with over 1,800 self-operated charging stations strategically placed within a kilometer of users in urban areas.
Innovations in Vehicle-to-Grid Technology
Further highlighting their commitment to sustainability, GAC Energy made significant strides in the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology sector. In August 2025, they executed China's first private car owner V2G discharge order. Subsequently, in September, they established the largest V2G microgrid in the nation, with an impressive average daily discharge of over 11,000 kWh per station. By the end of 2025, GAC Energy achieved national V2G discharge exceeding 1.35 million kWh, with power trading surpassing 130 million kWh. This initiative contributed crucially to reducing carbon emissions, with cumulative reductions amounting to 3.43 million tons, furthering the goals of a low-carbon and sustainable energy ecosystem.
As we enter 2026, GAC Energy’s momentum continues to grow. The company is rapidly driving towards smarter, faster, and greener charging solutions. Their ambition is to shape a secure and sustainable energy ecosystem that will support the future of mobility for all. With these impressive achievements and innovations, GAC Energy is not only reinforcing its position as a leader in the EV charging sector but is also enhancing the overall electric vehicle experience for millions across China.
