Advancing Digital Transformation: Insights from the DX Leadership Training Seminar
On a recent occasion, Anddot Inc., spearheaded by CEO Yuta Ibaraki, conducted a lecture at the "DX Leadership Training Seminar". This event was co-hosted by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Municipal Academy, also known as JAMP. As part of the Ministry's 2022-2023 initiative to cultivate leadership in digital transformation (DX), Anddot has produced AX initiatives for over 120 municipalities across three training sessions. This third seminar attracted representatives from 30 municipalities, where they engaged in an advanced AX promotion program designed to meet real-world needs.
Understanding AX Production
Anddot's AX Production initiative primarily focuses on driving business reform through artificial intelligence (AI). The AX (AI Transformation) venture aims not just to implement AI tools but to fundamentally reinvent a company’s business model based on AI principles, thus creating a sustainable competitive edge. Anddot provides comprehensive support throughout the entire journey: from selecting the most suitable AI technologies and implementation to instilling organizational culture and training.
The Imperative of Training
With the urgency for DX progression in public sectors, cultivating "DX leadership" has emerged as a critical priority, especially in local municipalities. The seminar aimed to ensure that leaders not only grasped the foundational knowledge of generative AI but also mastered practical applications that could significantly enhance productivity through AX realization. The goal was to cultivate a state where DX leaders could proficiently and effectively utilize AI, integrating theoretical learning with hands-on workshops.
Curriculum Outline: Implementing AI Transformation
The seminar was structured into two main segments over 150 minutes: theoretical learning and practical application.
Part 1: Lecture on the AI Skills Pyramid
In the first section, participants learned about the "AI Skills Pyramid," which outlines the foundational knowledge necessary to adeptly navigate AI technologies. Topics included:
- - AI Literacy Development: Understanding risks associated with AI, such as hallucinations, data leaks, and copyright issues while recognizing areas where AI struggles, such as accurate data provision and complex calculations.
- - Exploration of AI Creativity: Discovery of the "seven use categories" for text-generating AI, helping attendees cultivate skills for ideation and application.
- - Practical AI Prompt Design: Rules for crafting effective prompts that yield high-quality responses, focusing on inputting background information, avoiding multiple requests, and maintaining continuous dialogue.
Anddot's unique approach to AI utilization through the "AI Skills Pyramid" formed the foundation for expanding its influence.
Part 2: Workshop on AX Ideation
Leveraging the concepts from the first session, the second part emphasized participant networking through a hands-on workshop that aimed to foster immediate applicability of learned concepts. Activities included:
- - Utilization of the Municipal AX 80 Case Map: Reference to a case map compiled from nationwide municipal support efforts to discover actionable ideas tailored to each municipality’s operations.
- - Practical Assignments and Prompt Creation: Participants engaged in real-world administrative tasks, such as developing strategies to prevent illegal dumping and creating public communications for residents, framed as worksheet-driven exercises.
- - Building Collaborative Networks: Facilitating sharing and presentations among groups, allowing attendees to absorb varying perspectives and insights from different municipalities. This interaction provided a rare opportunity to foster connections and share knowledge effectively among DX leaders.
Participant Feedback: Recognizing the Value of AX
Post-seminar surveys revealed that many attendees found the experience incredibly beneficial. Comments indicated significant appreciation for both the advancements in understanding current technologies and the valuable networking opportunities it provided, breaking the isolation often felt by municipal staff.
"Learning the latest in prompt design helped me realize my knowledge was outdated. I am eager to implement what I've learned right away," one participant noted. Another emphasized the importance of understanding detailed use cases from diverse municipalities, stating, "I gained numerous insights I plan to share with my department for immediate implementation."
Future Outlook: Accelerating AX Implementation Across Municipalities
Anddot is committed to leveraging the robust network established during this seminar to further its mission of creating "the future norms we establish today." By embracing the powerful partnership of generative AI, the focus will remain on enhancing an environment where government staff can dedicate energy to innovative endeavors and engaging with residents, ultimately driving productivity improvements and enhancing public services.
