Introduction to 'Shin STEAM Education' Workshops
Tokyo Denki University, under the leadership of Chairman Sadatsuna Watanabe, is dedicated to fostering collaboration across its middle school, high school, and university. On September 20th, during the cultural festival known as the 'TDU Musashino Festival,' the university will hold two engaging workshops aimed at elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as the local community.
Workshop Details
The workshops are part of a larger initiative to strengthen collaboration among the institutions under the university's auspices. They are designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and exploration, using insights gained from the university's human science courses focused on 'Exploration of Shin STEAM Education'. This is the first time these workshops will be conducted, aiming to immerse participants in the academic and campus life that the university offers, nurturing their future aspirations.
Workshop 1: Create Your Own String Instrument Concert

- - Instructor: Misaki Hayashi, 2nd-year student, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics, Future Science Faculty
- - Overview: Participants will learn the principles of sound while crafting their own string instruments. A mini-concert will follow, featuring performances with the instruments created.
Workshop 2: Creating Accessible Spaces from an Architectural Perspective
- - Date & Time: September 20th, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
- - Instructor: Asuka Nakano, 3rd-year student, Department of Architecture, Future Science Faculty
- - Overview: This workshop explores the perspectives of individuals with dementia through videos and lectures, focusing on designing livable spaces suitable for all.
Both workshops will conclude with a lecture and Q&A session regarding university education and student life, led by Associate Professor Hiroki Kiba from the Center for General Education. The workshops will also be supported by students Yuuma Sato from the Department of Advanced Mechanical Engineering and Naoya Inoue from the Department of Information Systems Engineering.
Additional Festival Activities
The 'TDU Musashino Festival' will feature unique programs particularly aimed at showcasing the strengths of Tokyo Denki University's middle and high school. There will be a variety of activities, including:

- - Railway model exhibitions by the railway research club
- - Demonstrations by the Shaolin Temple Kung Fu club

Through the festival, the university hopes to provide a platform for fostering active learning and showcasing educational activities among students from Tokyo Denki University’s middle and high schools.
