Taiwan Mobile's AI Ocean Project Receives Prestigious Biodiversity Award at Global Summit
The recent conclusion of the "AI with Purpose Global Summit Taipei 2025" marked a significant achievement for Taiwan Mobile as its "AI Ocean Project" was honored with the prestigious Biodiversity Award. Following his address, Dr. Yi-Chin Lin, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, elaborated on Taiwan's five core strategies for AI development: enhancing computing power, improving data sharing, cultivating talent, promoting industry collaboration, and securing capital investment.
Among the most notable aspects of Taiwan Mobile's AI Ocean Project is its combining of AI image recognition, generative AI chatbots, and community involvement to create a comprehensive marine species database in Traditional Chinese. This innovative project has seen contributions from over 9,000 citizens who submitted more than 19,000 images, enabling the AI system to identify over 150 common marine species found in Taiwanese waters.
