The 12th Machikouba Trade Fair: A Showcase of Local Innovation

On February 19th and 20th, 2026, the 12th Machikouba Trade Fair will take place at the Tokyo International Forum in Chiyoda, Tokyo. This event, organized by Katsushika Ward alongside the Katsushika Branch of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to gather products and technologies from small factories across the eastern Tokyo area. In light of this, the trade fair will feature special guest appearances from successors in the manufacturing industry, known as Atotsugi, who are taking the reins of their family businesses. The event will include individuals who have participated in the Atotsugi Koshien, a pitch competition hosted by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency. These successors are not only preserving their family legacies but are also actively seeking growth and new challenges in their respective fields.

Visitors will have the chance to hear firsthand accounts from these successors, including their personal experiences related to business succession, the establishment of new ventures, and different innovative approaches they are adopting. Alongside this, the fair will host a pitch event featuring presentations from Atotsugi members and exhibiting companies, focusing on new business initiatives. In addition to the pitch events, there will be planned exhibitions highlighting collaborations between Tokyo University of Science and local businesses in Katsushika, showcasing the outcomes of their joint research projects. The fair will also distribute the latest promotional materials for the Katsushika Brand, recognized for its contributions to local manufacturing, and provide various panel displays. Furthermore, the event will feature products submitted for the Tokyo TASK Monozukuri Award 2025, underlining the emphasis on quality and innovation in manufacturing.
