Laura Villars, a 28-year-old racer from Switzerland, has officially announced her candidacy for the presidency of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), becoming the first woman to vie for this significant position in the global governance of motorsport. Her announcement comes as a beacon of hope and a call for transformation in the largely male-dominated realm of car racing.

In her declaration, Villars emphasized the necessity for the FIA to return to its roots as an organization focused on clubs and licensed members. "My ambition is for more democratic, transparent, and accountable governance, open to women and the new generations," she stated. A Promising Career in Racing


Villars has an impressive international racing career ahead of her. She has competed in 58 races across various championships, including the Ultimate Cup Series F3R, F4 UAE, Ferrari Challenge Europe, and Ligier European Series. In her first full season in the Ultimate Cup Series F3R in 2023, she secured an impressive fifth place in the overall standings. Her recent engagements included competitions in both F4 UAE (Abu Dhabi, 2023) and F4 Saudi Arabia (2024), and she is currently participating in the Ligier European Series JS P4 with Team Virage in 2025.

The FIA presidential election will take place on December 12, 2025, during the General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The incumbent president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, will be running for a second term, and Tim Mayer, a former FIA steward, is also in the race.
