Understanding Teachers' Needs Through Digital Transformation
In today's fast-paced educational landscape, a recent collaborative survey by SAMURAI and the Digital Human Resources Co-Creation Alliance has shed light on the pressing challenges faced by high school teachers in Japan. By interviewing 714 educators, the study aims to unravel their burdensome tasks and aspirations for an enhanced educational environment through digital transformation (DX).
Key Findings from the Survey
1.
Significant Burden in Course Preparation: The survey reveals that teachers are feeling overwhelmed not just by administrative tasks, but also by the manual processes involved in course preparation and career guidance. More than half of the educators expressed a need to alleviate the workload associated with creating assessments and instructional plans, indicating an urgency for digitization to allow more time for creative material development.
2.
Sources of Stress: When delving deeper into the reasons behind the work-related stress, it was noted that both the sheer volume of tasks and the mental fatigue stemming from complex decision-making processes were significant factors. This highlights the necessity for transforming traditional teaching methods to reduce these burdens.
3.
Aim of Digital Transformation: Teachers are eager to create opportunities for more one-on-one interaction with their students and enhance the quality of their lesson preparation, indicating a genuine commitment to improving educational outcomes.
The Role of Digital Transformation in Education
The findings from this survey emphasize that the role of digital transformation in education extends beyond simply streamlining administrative tasks; it is fundamentally about reclaiming educators' time for critical educational activities. By minimizing repetitive and bureaucratic processes, teachers can return to their core responsibilities, such as developing teaching materials and building strong relationships with their students.
SAMURAI firmly believes in equipping teachers with the contemporary tools required to harness technology efficiently, thus encouraging creativity and maximizing the potential of each student.
Introducing the AI Utilization and Administrative Efficiency Training Program
To address the insights gained from the survey, SAMURAI is launching a new training program aimed at optimizing the duties of educators while enhancing student engagement. This initiative aligns closely with the vision of creating a next-generation educational environment as outlined in the Next High School Concept.
Program Highlights:
- - Class Preparation: Leveraging AI, teachers can quickly develop innovative lesson plans that align with the curriculum and engage students effectively.
- - Career Guidance: Offering personalized feedback on application essays and mock interviews, aiding teachers in intensely supporting each student's journey.
- - Reducing Administrative Burden: Automating the drafting of report cards and surveys to lighten the psychological load on teachers.
