RESOLVE 2024 Concludes



The anticipation surrounding RESOLVE 2024, organized by ADGM Courts and the ADGM Dispute Resolution Hearing Centre (DHRC), came to an end on the second day of Abu Dhabi Finance Week. This year's event was marked by in-depth discussions involving international dispute resolution experts, industry leaders, and government representatives. The event was held in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Justice, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, arbitrateAD, and LexisNexis as the Knowledge Partner.

The third edition of RESOLVE embraced the theme of "Resilience," offering attendees a unique opportunity to hear from global leaders sharing their stories, theories, and ideas centered on resilience for themselves and their clients. The esteemed keynote speaker, S.E. Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Justice, remarked that RESOLVE reflects the UAE’s commitment to a dynamic, sustainable economy, driven by visionary leadership that aims to ensure justice, equity, and opportunities underpinned by robust legal frameworks. He stressed that the event highlights Abu Dhabi's position as a global leader in innovation, resilience, and advancements within financial and legal systems.

One of the standout sessions was the panel on Class Actions for Societal Harm - The Silicon Valley Backlash, which addressed the rising legal pressures faced by Big Tech and social media platforms amidst a growing trend of collective legal actions. Another significant discussion, Navigating the AI Legal Frontier, led by Amir Ghavi from Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, explored the evolution of AI and the regulatory safeguards being developed in the UAE and globally to harness AI’s potential for economic growth.

Attendees were treated to a range of thought-provoking discussions featuring leading legal and industry experts on important topics such as Restructuring and Insolvency in Complex Times and The Climate Puzzle - An Uncertain Pathway. Notable speakers included Tim L'Estrange FCIA - an independent arbitrator and mediator; Katrina Buckley, a partner at AO Shearman; Nicky Reader, a partner at Clifford Chance; Troy Brown from Morgan Lewis; Jamie Levy from ADIO; and Duncan Miller from 7 Wentworth Selborne Chambers, all of whom shared their insights during these informative panel discussions.
