EDCare Omaha's New Facility: A Step Towards Better Eating Disorder Treatment in Nebraska
EDCare Omaha Expands Its Facility
In a significant move to provide better access to specialized treatment for eating disorders, EDCare Omaha has opened a larger facility located at 366 Regency Parkway, Omaha, NE 68114. This expansion aims to address the growing demand for eating disorder treatment among adults in Nebraska, and represents a crucial investment in improving care for patients and their families.
Addressing a Critical Need
Eating disorders affect about 30 million Americans, yet only a mere 20% receive the necessary treatment. Alarmingly, approximately 10,200 individuals lose their lives to these disorders each year—equating to one death every 52 minutes. EDCare's move into a larger space serves to increase treatment capacity, allowing for the provision of essential care to more patients while reducing wait times for those in need.
Denisa Larreau Mettler, Program Director at EDCare Omaha, emphasized the importance of this expansion: “As the only provider of adult Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient treatment for eating disorders in Nebraska, we take seriously our responsibility to expand access. This expansion allows us to help more individuals reclaim their health.”
Creating a Healing Environment
The new facility is designed to promote comfort and healing. It features larger group therapy rooms, bright therapeutic spaces, and a well-equipped kitchen to support nutritional rehabilitation. Each aspect of the design considers the needs of patients, ensuring they have a welcoming atmosphere to aid their recovery.
Mettler pointed out, “Every day we meet people who are ready for recovery but don’t know where to turn. By growing our capacity, we can reach more Nebraskans and ensure no one has to face this journey alone.”
Expanding Resources and Support
EDCare Omaha's new facility will offer various group and therapeutic programs. The goal is to not only treat individuals suffering from eating disorders but also to support families through the recovery journey, enhancing long-term recovery outcomes within the community. The organization is committed to bridging the treatment gap for eating disorders in the state.
Individuals interested in receiving help can access free confidential assessments. EDCare provides trusted resources and guidance toward lasting recovery for patients, families, and healthcare providers, empowering every participant along their journey to better health.
