The Most Awaited Saga Strawberry Market Returns to Marui Family in 2026!

A Sweet Return: The Saga Strawberry Market is Back!

After a three-year hiatus, the Saga Strawberry Market is finally making its much-anticipated return! Set to take place at Marui Family Mizuguchi, this delightful event will run from February 25 (Wednesday) to March 3 (Tuesday), hosting an array of delicious strawberries and strawberry-inspired treats from Saga Prefecture, a top producer of this lovely fruit in Japan.

What is the Saga Strawberry Market?

The Saga Strawberry Market, celebrated for its incredible variety of strawberries, garnered rave reviews when it was last held in 2023. Attendees can expect to find some of the finest strawberries, including the Ichigo San, Saga Honoka, and unique varieties like Pearl White and May Snow. Each variety boasts its own distinct characteristics, with Ichigo San known for its stunning appearance and sweet flavor, while Saga Honoka continues to be a favorite even after two decades since its introduction. This year, visitors can also enjoy the limited-edition appearance of Pearl White, characterized by its beautiful white color and mild sweetness.

For those who want to savor different flavors, the market will offer bundles like the Red and White Strawberry Tasting Set, along with gift sets perfect for sharing. In addition to strawberries, a selection of local delicacies, including the region's famed puddings, will be available for purchase! Sweet lovers will not want to miss this event.

Not Just Strawberries: Saga's Famous Puddings

Saga is not only known for its strawberries but is also gaining fame for its delicious puddings. In 2020, the Pudding Association of Saga was established to promote local puddings and invite visitors to explore the province's sweet offerings. Visitors to the market can indulge in popular items like the Mixed Strawberry Milk Pudding from Katsuuki Farm, the much-talked-about Saga No. Okusan Pudding from Kanzaki Yagura Sushi, and the meticulously baked Gokigen Pudding from 5x5 Rolls. Each pudding has its own unique appeal; be prepared for both excellent flavors and imaginative names that make them irresistible!

Special Event: The Saga Gacha Raffle

On February 28 (Saturday) and March 1 (Sunday), visitors spending over 2,000 yen can participate in the Saga Gacha Raffle, where you can win exciting prizes, including local specialties from Saga and exclusive merchandise like coupons for Saga beef at just 500 yen!

Partnering for Fresh Produce: Pocket Marche

The event is co-hosted with Pocket Marche, a unique platform operated by Amakaze Taiyo, connecting consumers with local farmers and fishers, allowing them to purchase seasonal foods directly. Since its launch in September 2016, over 9,000 farmers and fishers have joined, offering a variety of around 14,000 food items. This growth follows a surge in demand for local produce during the pandemic, resulting in a vibrant community focused on connecting consumers with producers. Marui Group and Amakaze Taiyo formed a business alliance in August 2020 to host direct sales events, enhancing visibility for local produce at Marui locations.
